Hurricane Relief
Two Category 5 hurricanes, Irma and Maria, devastated the United States Virgin Islands in September 2018. There was severe damage to homes, schools and the Territory's infrastructure took the hardest blow in Virgin Islands history. In the days and weeks following both hurricanes, Jean A. Forde selflessly addressed the needs of his community. In his capacity of a senator, Jean partnered with private businesses and donors on the mainland to provide food, clothing, personal hygiene items, and other life-sustaining goods to be distributed to various communities. Jean also delivered care packages, door-to-door, to ensure the access of much needed supplies. Additionally, Jean collaborated with All Hands and Hearts – Smart Response on supply distributions, school clean-ups, and other initiatives.
