Bill No. 31-0016 Act No. 7729 - This Act requires the Health Board to submit to the Legislature a copy of their agreement to purchase a health insurance contract, between the Board and the insurer desiring to provide insurance coverage and that the Governor notify the Legislature if said Governor disapproves the agreement to purchase a contract. *co-sponsored*

BR No. 17-0056 - This Bill will enact a local version of federal Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act (COBRA) statutes so that separated employees have an option to continue health insurance coverage.

BR No. 17-0057 - This Bill will establish the Virgin Islands Parental and Family Leave Act. Similarly to COBRA, federal statutes which provide that parents are guaranteed the right to return to their employment after maternal leave, do not apply to most private sector employees in the Virgin Islands, as the federal statute only applies to employees with more than 50 employees. This legislation would protect local parents, and mothers especially, by guaranteeing job security after a period of maternal or family leave.
